Internship Overview

Southface Institute, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, is leading the way toward a sustainable, equitable, and healthy built environment for all. Since 1978, our programs have closed the gap between environmental awareness and action by promoting scalable resource efficiency and clean energy solutions for homes, workplaces, and communities.

As a Southface intern, you will play an active role in our mission and gain valuable knowledge to begin a career in sustainability.

BIT Building is a software-based, green building certification program that helps building owners, operators, and tenants improve operations, reduce costs, and achieve sustainability goals. Using an interactive, online platform, program participants will understand their building's current level of performance and learn creative ways to make improvements. Designed for all types of existing buildings regardless of their age or level of efficiency, BIT Building provides building owners and operators with step-by-step guidance on improving building performance while earning recognition for their achievements.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or certificate program working towards a degree or certificate in the field of computer science, software engineering, graphic design and/or web design.
• Organized with strong analytical skills.
• Educational understanding of sustainable environments, resource efficiency, resilience, and other similar strategies for improving people's lives
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work an average of 20-40 hours per week from August 22 - December 15

Description of Duties/Responsibilities

• Assist with the development of a more efficient user experience for BIT Building customers in Salesforce.
• Assist with the development of flows, validation rules, formula fields, and escalation rules.
• Assist with the development of customizable Salesforce fields, configuring page layouts and CRM content, record types, searching, list views, queues, reports, and dashboards.
• Maintain list of customer recommendations, requests, and issues for troubleshooting.
• Maintain system metrics to track trends in usage and data integrity.
• Provide high quality support via telephone and email.
• Identify issues with the platform and assist with the development of a plan to fix.

Hours of Work

Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with flexible options. Occasional weekend or evening hours.
