Team Overview

Since 2008, GoodUse (formerly Grants to Green and NEWE) has implemented over 545 projects with nonprofits across the nation to reduce utility costs and save mission-critical dollars. GoodUse staff provides technical assistance, education, and matching grants to any 501c3 across the nation, applying funds to facility and operational upgrades that increase resource efficiency, lower expenses and improve indoor health. To make these positive changes last, Southface engineers identify areas for high-impact energy and water savings and indoor air improvements, assist with project implementation and ensure upgrades are delivering results. The GoodUse team works collaboratively across departments- design consulting services, certifications, and education - to provide a custom approach to each project and best meet the needs of the nonprofit partner. The program is well-positioned for growth, already expanding to 29 states in the last five years.

Position Overview

The Director of GoodUse is a member of the Leadership team and reports to the President. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the short and long-term visions for GoodUse, including: budgets, strategy, roadmap development, implementation and evaluation
  • Contribute to organizational growth through program and staff expansion and integration and innovation as guided by yearly program analysis
  • Seek new and manage existing expansion (portfolio) partnerships with public and private organizations. Manage existing funding relationships, including facilitating bi-annual reports, monthly calls, etc. and foster new funding relationships through leading meetings, providing program detail, etc.
  • Work closely with the Development team and President to expand and diversify funding for programmatic expansion that aligns with the program vision
  • Collaborate with marketing team to develop, implement, and manage program marketing strategies to increase brand awareness
  • Participate in organizational strategic planning activities
  • Hire, train, develop and appraise direct reports
  • Experience with building science or sustainable building, grant management, or funder relations
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The successful applicant for the position will meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field, MBA preferred
  • Ten+ years' experience developing, launching and evolving successful programs - experience with the nonprofit sector a plus
  • Demonstrated acumen in business and function disciplines
  • Relationship management skillset with outside-in focus
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Exceptional presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent leadership, time management, facilitation and organizational skills
  • Collaborative and positive team-building demeanor
  • Valid driver's license with no major violations

Physical Requirements

Ability to carry 35 pounds, which may involve carrying program materials including program signs, presentation materials and equipment, such as a projector.

Hours of Work

Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with flexible options. Occasional weekend or evening hours.
