Internship Overview

Southface Institute, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, is leading the way toward a sustainable, equitable and healthy built environment for all. Since 1978, our programs have closed the gap between environmental awareness and action by promoting scalable resource efficiency and clean energy solutions for homes, workplaces, and communities.

As a Southface intern, you will play an active role in our mission and gain valuable knowledge to begin a career in sustainability.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university working towards a degree or certificate in communications, marketing, advertising, journalism, photography, or related fields
• Organized with strong analytical skills
• Pursuing an educational understanding of sustainable environments, resource efficiency, resilience, and other similar strategies for improving people's lives
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Proficiency in social media channels such as Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. Knowledge with publishing platforms like Hootsuit and WordPress a plus.
• Knowledge with Adobe Creative Cloud a plus
• Ability to work a few hours on evenings and weekends for events
• Ability to work an average of 20-40 hours per week from August 22 - December 9th.

Duties

• Create visual and/or written content and engage an audience through Southface's channels (social, blog, email, etc.)
• Identify and facilitate speaking, tabling, and sponsorship opportunities
• Represent Southface at tabling and outreach events
• Create a media library of high-quality videos and photos for use in grants, social media, and promotional materials, joining technical teams in the field to capture content when needed
• Additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 20 pounds.

Hours of Work

Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with flexible options. Occasional weekend or evening hours.
