Internship Overview

Southface Institute, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, is leading the way toward a sustainable, equitable and healthy built environment for all. Since 1978, our programs have closed the gap between environmental awareness and action by promoting scalable resource efficiency and clean energy solutions for homes, workplaces and communities.

As a Southface intern, you will play an active role in our mission and gain valuable knowledge to begin a career in sustainability.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university working towards a degree or certificate in the field of marketing and communications, environmental sciences, sustainability, or similar fields
• Organized with strong analytical skills
• Educational understanding of sustainable environments, resource efficiency, resilience, and other similar strategies for improving people's lives
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and intermediate skills with Microsoft Excel
• Working knowledge in Adobe Suites
• Exposure to a CRM or Salesforce is a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Collaborative and positive team-building demeanor
• Entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to learn new things.
• Ability to work an average of 20-40 hours per week from August 22nd - December 9th

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist with Salesforce restructure and data management
• Bridge communications and marketing efforts between the GoodUse and Communications teams
• Expand on marketing materials and initiatives: providing consistent social media project content and developing a streamlined project photo bank
• Attend site visits for nonprofit projects to learn more about the program to effectively develop content, take pictures, and find creative ways to report quantitative and qualitative data
• Assist with reports, case studies and grant submittals as needed, including editing and formatting for building assessment reports and funder reports
• Assist with video projects and website updates for the GoodUse page as needed
• Assist with Southface events
• Additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

May require visits to a construction site. Walking. Reaching. Bending. Ability to lift 20 pounds.

Hours of Work

Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with flexible options. Occasional weekend or evening hours.
