This position will support the Technical Services team, which specializes in building certifications and other implementation programs, through a variety of project-based teamwork. You may work in one or more programs within the team, as determined by your skill set, professional goals and team needs. 

What you'll be doing for the greater good

  • Assist in one or more of our many certification programs, including EarthCraft, Southface Energy Rated Homes and LEED commercial
    • Assist during field inspections at active multifamily, single family and/or commercial projects
    • Provide support for field and file quality assurance
    • Contribute to project management process, from proposal stage to project close-out, including client correspondence, monitoring tasks and schedules and developing reports as needed
    • Provide Administrative Support
  • Participate in community outreach and awareness events
  • Lead tours of our demonstration facility
  • Provide front-line customer service to clients and visitors
  • Assist with event management for our monthly Sustainable Atlanta Roundtable and Solstice member events

Our fellowship program provides a substantive learning experience that allows our emerging leaders to explore career options and to develop professional skills in the fields of sustainability, building sciences and nonprofit management. Southface offers several professional development opportunities, which may vary depending on your skill set, your role on the team and the timing of training delivery dates.                                  

How we know you're a great match

  • Ability to make a 6-month commitment, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, starting in January 2020
  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Environmental Health, Sustainability, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field
  • Project management experience or experience with energy modeling software preferred
  • Familiarity with construction documents and knowledge of construction terminology
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative and positive demeanor that builds up the team
  • Ability to think creatively and be innovative
  • Commitment to Southface mission, aka, changing the world
  • Valid driver's license is required 'cause we can't bike everywhere (yet)

Physical Requirements

As a Southfacer, you may be out in the field. Performing fieldwork involves extensive navigation in and around construction sites, buildings, attics and sites, as well as climbing ladders. Therefore, an applicant must possess physical dexterity, endurance and balance to safely and effectively accomplish this work. If your technical skills are so extensive you think you're a great fit, but you aren't physically capable of navigating sites, we want to hear from you anyway.

Hours of Work

40 hours per week, Monday through Friday between 8:30AM and 5:30PM, with flexible options. Occasional weekend or evening hours.
