Position Overview

The HR Manager is a key leader and business partner for the day-to-day operations of people, processes, and policies. The Manager is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources and will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. Through cross collaboration, this individual will partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future, talent management and professional development needs.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the President of the organization, specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides support and guidance to the senior leadership and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks including coaching and disciplinary actions.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Creates professional learning and development programs including initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employee development and career pathing.
  • Administer payroll procedures and resolve any payroll problems and/or discrepancies in partnership with the Controller.
  • Perform benefits administration to include approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost-effectiveness, and answering employee benefit questions.
  • Lead HR projects including revision of job descriptions, performance management tool enhancements, salary surveys and JUST certification.
  • Establish and maintain HR department records and reports.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the HR department and services performed.
  • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Maintains relationships with outside HR Counsel, as needed.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The successful applicant for the position will meet the following requirements:

  • Five to seven years of human resources experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple task
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Collaborative and positive team-building demeanor.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible when priorities shift.
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements

Ability to carry 20 pounds, which may involve carrying project materials including program signs, presentation materials and equipment, such as a projector.

Hours of Work

Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with flexible options. Occasional weekend or evening hours.
