Education Team Overview

Achieving a successful regenerative economy requires a well-trained and educated workforce ready to solve complex problems and implement solutions. Our Education team develops curricula and delivers trainings that empower current and future generations of the workforce.

Position Overview

Southface is seeking a customer-focused individual to join our team as a Technical Project Manager primarily supporting the Education team. Candidates should be knowledgeable of basic building science principles, building performance standards and building development and construction. The ideal candidate will have experience providing educational/training offerings and work experience in the commercial or residential construction fields.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate or co-facilitate trainings such as Building Performance Institute's Building Analyst, Energy Auditor, Quality Control Inspector, Crew Leader, and Retrofit Installer Technician, OSHA 10, combustion appliance safety, duct and envelope tightness, healthy homes initiative courses and continuing education
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts, internal curriculum designers and industry stakeholders to create and maintain best-in-class training programs
  • Achieve or maintain industry credentials through Interstate Renewable Energy Council, Building Performance Institute and Residential Energy Services Network
  • Serve as a technical lead for project diagnostic testing, including whole building infiltration and HVAC duct leakage testing
  • Other tasks as necessary supporting the Southface mission

Qualifications

The successful applicant for the position will meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in building or environmental science, building construction, civil or structural engineering, architecture or related field
  • Demonstrated success in providing trainings, education, workforce development, and creating and maintaining related curricula
  • Active industry professional certifications, such as Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) and/or the Building Performance Institute (BPI)
  • Demonstrated efficient project management skills
  • Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft programs including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint; MS project or other scheduling software a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving history

Physical Requirements

Performing fieldwork involves extensive navigation in and around construction sites, buildings, attics and sites, as well as climbing ladders. Therefore, an applicant must possess physical dexterity, endurance and balance to safely and effectively accomplish this work.

Hours of Work

Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with flexible options. Occasional weekend or evening hours.
